TMZ reports today:

Tiger Woods‘ wife, Elin Nordegren, changed the story she told the first officer on the scene, according to law enforcement sources.

The story police gave the media about Nordegren “helping” Woods out of the vehicle by smashing out the back window with a golf club? Reportedly completely bogus.

Classless Neuheisel Down To His Final Season?

Rick Neuheisel embarrassed himself, his team and his university last night here in Los Angeles as he took a senseless timeout late in the game against USC that lead to an embarrassing 48-yard touchdown pass by the Trojans’ to cap a 28-7 win over UCLA.

(Slick Rick gave us something to remember him by last night)

With under a minute to go and UCLA trailing 21-7, USC quarterback Matt Barkley took a knee to run out the clock, but Neuheisel inexplicably called timeout. BarkleySource: SPORTSbyBROOKS RSS Feed

John Daly Gives Thanks That Someone Else in Golf Fucked Up

[John Daly, pictured, skeptical of the news that he wasn't in any way involved with the Tiger Woods car crash.  Daly's attorneys are demanding it in writing.]

By now, the Internets have pretty much covered the late night Thanksgiving Day car crash involving Tiger Woods and his wife “rescuing” him with a golf club upside the head his Escalade.  Rumors of infidelity, domestic violence, etc abound.  CSTB is happy to traffic in all that.  But this Thanksgiving Weekend, let’s not Source: Can't Stop the Bleeding RSS Feed

Could Calero set-up

Of all the areas that the Mets need to address, the most stable is the pen, if the Mets are confident that one of Bobby Parnell, Brain Stokes and Sean Green can step up to be the set-up man, then they may only need a left handed specialist.
However, if they look outside of the organization for a set-up man a player they've been interested in before who has served as a set-up man maybe available at less then what most set-up men would cost.

Video: Kiffin’s Blindside Hit on Jonathan Crompton

Apparently Lane Kiffin didn’t feel Vanderbilt roughed up Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton enough last night, so he did the honors:

(WOW! (:23))

Or perhaps Kiffin was just acting out a fantasy nine out of ten Volunteer fans have on a weekly basis.

Video of Crompton exiting stage left after the jump.

Oregon Cheerleader Hit By Bottle Was Hospitalized

After the Arizona-Oregon game in Tucson Saturday night, Oregon cheerleader Katelynn Johnson was, while still on the field, struck in the head by a full water bottle apparently thrown from the stands.

The PORTLAND OREGONIAN sets the “terrifying scene” Saturday night:

Oregon senior associate athletic director Joe Giansante, who announced the Ducks’ television replay broadcast in the corner of the field where Johnson was hit, said several items were being thrown toward OregonSource: SPORTSbyBROOKS RSS Feed

When Did Notre Dame Stop Private Plane Tracker?

How insane has the Notre Dame coaching watch gotten? ESPN.com’s Brian Bennett gives us a taste:

Notre Dame has blocked tracking access to its university-owned private plane from the web site FlightAware.com, a popular tool often used by fans and media to speculate on the comings and goings of a coaching search.

One problem with that (widely-circulated) note, none of those reports about the flight tracking have mentioned when it was actually taken down. Two sources told meSource: SPORTSbyBROOKS RSS Feed
